Debiopharm Life Sciences Awardees 2012

 

The President of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), the Dean of the EPFL School of Life Sciences, and the Executive Board of Debiopharm Group™ are pleased to invite applications for the Debiopharm Group™ Life Sciences Awards.

The Sponsor, Debiopharm Group™, is a Swiss biopharmaceutical company with a focus on the development of innovative therapies that target unmet medical needs.

Debiopharm Group Life Sciences Award 2012

In 2012 the Main Award will be given to an investigator in the field of

INFECTIOUS DISEASES & IMMUNOLOGY

The prize will honor a European investigator below the age of 45 who has made outstanding contributions in the area of basic or clinical research in infectious diseases. It consists of a total of 50'000 CHF, of which one fifth is a personal award, while the rest will contribute to support the awardee's research at her/his home institution.

Candidates are invited to submit their applications no later than May 1st, 2012. A Jury of internationally renowned scientific experts will evaluate the applications.

The dossier should be comprised of:

  • A one-page endorsement letter by the home institute describing the importance of the nominee's contribution to this field
  • her/his curriculum vitae
  • her/his list of publications
  • One page describing the nature and the importance of the research carried out to date
  • One-page outline of her/his plans for future research

Junior Debiopharm Group Life Sciences Awards 2012

The two Junior Awards will honor young researchers (postdocs or group leaders) under the age of 33 working at a Swiss institution in the wider area of

CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

This includes, but is not limited to cancer, genetics, signal transduction, infection biology, developmental biology, and neuroscience.

Each of the two awards consists of a total of 25'000 CHF, of which one fifth is a personal award, while the rest will contribute to support the awardee's research. Candidates are invited to submit their applications no later than April 16th, 2012. A Jury of internationally renowned scientific experts will evaluate the applications, and invite preselected candidates to the EPFL for a short presentation.

The dossier should be comprised of:

  • her/his curriculum vitae
  • her/his list of publications
  • a one-page outline of her/his plans for future research and career
  • names and contact details of two reference persons

The awards will be handed over on the occasion of the EPFL Life Science Symposium 2012 to be held 29-31 August 2012.

All applications with clear indication on the type of award are to be sent, exclusively in electronic format and in the form of one single "pdf" file, to:
