Global Health meets Infection Biology

Every year the School of Life Sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) holds a major international symposium on its campus: the EPFL Life Science Symposium (LSS).

This year's edition, the LSS2012, will be organized by the Global Health Institute (GHI). It will take place August 29th -31st, 2012 in Auditorium SG1 (SG building) under the title "Global Health meets Infection Biology".

This two and a half-day event is structured around four core themes that will each feature several high profile speakers from around the world:

 

  • Global Health
  • Evolutionary genomics of pathogens and their hosts
  • Mechanisms of infection
  • Innovative interventions

A special session of LSS2012 will be dedicated to presenting the annual Debiopharm Group Life Sciences Award 2012, which this year will honour a young European investigator below the age of 45, active in the field of INFECTIOUS DISEASES & IMMUNOLOGY, as well as the Junior Debiopharm Group Life Sciences Award 2012, that will honour young researchers (postdocs or group leaders) under the age of 33 working at a Swiss institution in the wider area of CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
